When you hear the word conservatism, what comes to mind?
For many, it’s a political ideology. But for Christians, biblical conservatism is something entirely different.
It’s not about resisting change for the sake of tradition.
It’s about holding on to unchanging truth—God’s Word and His created order.
So, what does biblical conservatism really mean? And how should Christians apply it in today’s world?
True conservatism isn’t about rejecting all change.
It’s about preserving absolute, unchanging truth—God’s truth.
📖 “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” (Isaiah 40:8, ESV)
Biblical conservatism prioritizes God’s truth over human opinions.
From the very beginning, God established the family, the church, and civil authorities (Genesis 1:1).
📖 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24, ESV)
Marriage isn’t a social construct—it’s God’s design.
A biblical family is where parents raise children in faith (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).
Today, gender ideologies and movements like same-sex marriage are actively trying to redefine and dismantle the biblical family.
As Christians, we are called to stand firm.
📖 “Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.” (1 Peter 2:16, ESV)
Freedom is a gift, but it must be used responsibly within God’s moral framework.
📖 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8, ESV)
True justice isn’t just about social activism.
It must be rooted in God’s righteousness and order.
Many people equate conservatism with politics, but Christian conservatism is not the same as secular conservatism.
True conservatism is not about politics—it’s about living according to God’s unchanging truth.
Christians should avoid extremes, whether conservative or progressive.
Instead, we must seek God’s wisdom and hold a balanced biblical worldview.
📌 Example: Social justice (progressive value) and the traditional family (conservative value) can both be biblically important.
When choosing leaders, we should prioritize policies that align with Christian values:
📖 “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2, ESV)
Regardless of who is in power, we are called to pray for our leaders and for God’s will to be done in our nation.
✔️ True conservatism preserves God’s Word—not just old ways of thinking.
✔️ Christian values should guide our worldview, not blind allegiance to a political ideology.
✔️ Our ultimate focus should be on God’s Kingdom, not earthly systems.
📖 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33, ESV)
Being a Christian conservative isn’t about defending political ideologies—it’s about living for God’s eternal truth.
